restingplace = Brigham City Cemetery – Bushnell Hospital to Brigham City. The War Department acquired 235 acres of property in the southeast part of town, and construction on the hospital began March 1, 1942. The normally quiet farming community was bustling with activity as supplies were shipped in and laborers came to erect the 60-building hospital where wounded servicemen would be treated. The construction was finished and the first patients admitted on Oct. 10, 1942, just five days before Mayor Freeman left office. When the principal at Box Elder High School retired, Mayor Freeman was offered the job. He accepted the position and sent in his resignation as Mayor in order to prepare for the important position at the school. Notes
