Peter Knudson was born in a log cabin on ::September 8, 1858, in ::Brigham City, Utah. His parents were Wilhelm (William) Otto Knudson and Laura Amelia Christensen.
Peter was close to his brothers, particularly Charles and Jonathan, while he was growing up. As adults, Charles and Jonathan owned a duck club on Bear River west of Brigham City, and Peter managed the club. Prominent people from all over the country and as far away as England came every year to hunt ducks and geese. Clark Gable, who starred in the movie Gone with the Wind, was a member of the club.
In addition to managing the duck club, Peter grew fruit on two farms. He was also involved in the construction of the Logan Temple and spent a lot of time traveling from Brigham City to a sawmill in Logan Canyon. One day while returning to Brigham City, he and two other men were caught in a snow slide. Peter escaped, but the others were killed.
On March 25, 1880, Peter married Dena (Dinah) Peterson. They had nine children. Four of them died at a young age. During the birth of her ninth child in 1894, Dena also died. Three years later Peter married Josephine Jensen. They had three children.
From 1900 through 1904, Peter served as a Brigham City councilman, and in 1914 he became the city’s first sanitary inspector.
On ::November 27, 1939, Peter passed away at age 81.
